andy cutting

Andy Cutting is a soulful and technically outstanding melodeon

practicioner with an ear for a fine tune. Andy has been a consistent

musical force since he came to prominence with the innovative

Blowzabella, and he has been to Aust in several line-ups, but for 2011

we have a rare and special event, an Andy Cutting solo performance.

Learn more about Andy listen to some music on his web site.

Sat 18 June 8pm

matthias loibner & natasa mirkovic-de ro

Natasa Mirkovic-De Ro is a folk, rock, jazz, opera singer and

ethnomusicologist from Sarajevo, Bosnia; Matthias Loibner is a truly

innovative hurdy-gurdy player from Austria. They interpret old songs and

instrumental pieces from the Balkans and give them new life, but with

respect for traditional roots. Plus a few Schubert songs!

Sat 10 September 8pm

angles

Chris Walshaw, Cliff Stapleton and Richard Jones

Three highly regarded musicians combine their considerable talents to

bring us their own tunes, composed new music and dance to fit the

European traditions. Angles mix haunting pipes, earthy gurdy rhythms

and driving accordion bass lines to create their distinctive folk-trance

groove tinged with blues and jazz.

Steve Tyler, Katy Marchant, Tin Garside and Vivien Ellis

A strong mediaeval flavour with lively dance music from 13th century Spain,

more complex pieces from Italian Ars Nova, and quieter, more devotional

melodies from monastic sources. All augmented by traditional tunes and
